After slaughtering us in GvG KIN said they were KOR. I'm not sure if they were joking or just saying they were Korean or if they actually are members of KOR, but they were good. We never got past the flag stand in that battle.

Positive Zero is Negative Zero. And as is my understanding, the Fianna just didn't GvG much this weekend, because there aren't many Guilds within range of them on the ladder. One or two people from their Guild show up here every now and then, maybe they'll elucidate.

I know it's bad manners to link to other forums, but it's much easier than having me paraphrase this entire thread.
Ok, fine, I'm lazy.
Here's a pretty detailed discussion on this topic. Basically, if you're too lazy to click the link, some alphas from the top guilds decided to form new guilds because they're sick of waiting hours for the game to find them other guilds to fight in GvG. So.. yes, KIN is KOR, and p0 and n0 are the same (taken from word around the streets), etc. According to that thread, the only non-alpha guild in the top 10 rankings is IVEX. Congrats to IVEX members, if any of you are reading.

The people we fought played their builds better than us.
Thus, we lost.

Nah, I hear Fianna have started playing with this total scrub named PaulOtt. His intense aura of suckiness has pervaded their whole guild at this point. A real shame... :P

Damn. That is a shame. I know I'd hate to be stuck playing with that guy. I hear he's an uber n00b.

Nah, there will always be some guilds at the very top and very bottom that can't get games. Check out K I N. That guild can only fight the n0/p0 guys and us. Anet really needs to fix the current matching system.

What is there to fix? Should they let top-level teams just roll over the lower ranked ones that are searching for a game? The problem doesn't lie in the matching system. The problem lies in the fact that there are several obscenely good guilds and tons of mediocre guilds.

This isn't only a problem with GW, but with ladders like this in general. About the best solution I've heard is that as time passes, the range increases. Guilds that only want to play others of a similiar rank can reset the timer and start over, everyone else that just want to play can sit back and wait as their range of potential competitors grows. That way nobody is forced to fight people far out of their skill level if they don't want (far below or far above), but people who are tired of Tombs and just want to play can let the timer go.

It's pretty straightforward - the Fianna had a really sketchy build and didn't play well - so they got smashed. They were better than most of the teams I played this weekend, but they had absolutely no business hanging out with guilds on the front page this weekend.
I really don't know the details of their build, beyond that their Monks were incredibly soft and didn't put up much of a fight, and they seemed to have problems punching through defenses. I just remember the Monks trying to Healing Touch each other, laughing, and smashing face.
Peace,
-CxE

Probably guilds should be allowed to fight another guilds that are 40 places above or below them no matter what's the score difference. Maybe this number should be tweaked after a release so to make it better (say, there are 3 major timezones - USA, Euro and Asia so actually it's less than 40 guilds that may be available for a competition at a given time anyway).

Correction: there are several alpha-testers PvP guilds that have enormous advantage, there are several good guilds and tons of mediocre guilds.

Besides, that's why good players in other games generally don't waste time trying to get 1st places in a ladder and play on a tournaments instead.
Also, they use training accounts to check new strategies etc.
